Description

The crane is important to Asian art. It symbolizes longevity and good luck. In Japanese storytelling, the 1000 origami cranes represents peace and hope. Sadako Sasaki, the young victim of the Hiroshima atom bomb, decided to fold 1000 paper cranes but died of leukemia at number 644. Many to this day, fold the rest of the origami birds in her memory for the hope of peace.
