Do you still take pictures with a camera or do you use your phone?

So I don't hardly ever use my camera any more. Yet, I hang onto it. Thinking that I may start again. But my iphone is so convenient and I love that it is so light weight and I don't have to think about it. Still, I miss my camera. What do you use?

It depends. Mostly with my phone because it is always with me. But if I am purposely going on an excursion of picture-taking, I take the camera! And sometimes I use both to capture selfies while I am on my excursion! ;)

Since my fingers are cold all the time... I have to use a stylus on my phone..(or any touch screen). So I use my camera to take photos. I am not the only one with the cold fingers... the Senior Citizen Center has a stylus on a string attached to their Sign-in touch screen. Guess the cold fingers happen as we get older...:floorlaugh:

I use my phone. My CMT affects my dexterity and my thumb is useless most days but especially if I get cold. Like Kay, things dont work well when cold. I have been known to use my nose to click the button :floorlaugh: But I use my phone since it is lighter and always with me. I cant hold the camera still as its heavy.

I use all my cameras, including my iphone, it just depends on the situation. Nothing beats the convenience of the iphone and the newer phones take good photos. I often go out with one of my digi cameras but pull out my phone for a quick closeup or landscrape shot. When travelling I often about an equal number of pics on a digi camera and iphone.

Interesting that you do both. I saw in the Daily O's that you are checking out your rolling suitcase for your camera...so I'm guessing that must be for your polar bear adventure.

Interesting. I have been frustrated recently because my phone doesn't seem to recognize my hands as well. Duh, now I'm putting that together with my cold hands. I never used to have cold hands.

I think it is the ease of use with my phone and how small and light weight that causes me to just grab for it.

It is funny that you asked that, Linda. I broke out my old (very old, 10 MP DSLR) camera over the summer for the first time in at least a couple of years. I wanted to get some good photos of the birds at the feeder. Using the zoom lens and adjusting the shutter speed was a big help for that. I even got a few hummingbird photos that weren't completely blurry :)
I brought it down the shore last month and captured a few gulls in flight that I wouldn't have been able to get with my phone camera.
For the most part, I still use my phone for 99% of the time.

It depends on the situation for me. For sports like track, volleyball & baseball I still use my good camera, I want to be able to adjust shutter speed to stop action. I use the phone for 99% of everything else, I only use the phone in Key West which is wonderful, when we went to Hawaii in 2018 I had 10 pounds of camera around my neck the whole time. We just upgraded our Samsung phones from the S22 to S25 and I can see an improvement in the telephoto lens, so they've come a long way, but I'll still hang on to my good one.

I just realized that was kind of the end of my using the good camera. When Sydney game up soccer, I gave up the heavy camera.

99% of the time I use my phone. I used to carry my camera all the time everywhere but I love the convenience that I can just upload my photos to the cloud and just download the photo I need.

Right now I exclusively use my phone. But I am thinking of getting back out my camera in the new year. See if it sparks some photo taking interest from me.

Yes, I will often take the phone out of my pocket to grab a quick pic b/c I'm shooting with my long zoom lens that doesn't cover those distances. Years ago I had to bring extra lenses to change for those kind of pics but now its so easy having my phone handy for it.

I have a very old iPhone, but I still use it 99% of the time. Actually, I am really due for an upgrade since my phone starts to have charging issues. I'm not going to get the newest one, but I was thinking iPhone15... Any thoughts on that, Ladies? Yay or nay?

I use digital camera when going on trips, but then pictures stay on the memory card for months after :floorlaugh:
