Padme, its so hard to believe there was a time I didnt want you to be ours. Jason and I bought the house we live in without you in mind, thinking Christy would get to keep you. in the wake of Jasons divorce The first time I had to watch you was for a little less than a week, when Jason had an unexpected business trip to California. I wasnt used to you and didnt know your eating habits, how many times you liked to go out during the day, and your overall personality. You were in a new place yourself and werent totally comfortable here either. I wasnt used to a dog that sheds or a large breed, having grown up with Bandit, who was a Bichon. I was relieved you would be going back to your other house when Jason got back. We had to watch you a few times more and every time I felt like we had to prepare for your arrival by taking the pillows off the couch, covering the fabric, changing our normal embroidered comforter on our bed and mentally preparing for periodic walk since we dont have a fenced-in backyard. When your old mommy moved to North Carolina and was going to take you with her I could see how heart broken Jason was. I couldnt let you go away. Now weve had you for a little less than a year and I cannot imagine my life without you in it. I often find myself saddened when I think about how I know well outlive you - dogs cant live forever. - so I try to treasure every moment we have together. Im sorry I havent known you for your whole life from, puppy stage, but I think that makes me appreciate you more. Youre so excited to see me when I get home from work each day and I cannot wait to see your tail wagging and your sweet face as you greet me with jumps and twirls! I love how you twirl when you want to go potty and the little noises you make when you lay down. I love how you let us know its time to go to bed by going into our bedroom at a certain hour and how you love to play with your bird toy. I love when you sleep with us on our bed, despite our $350 comforter being ruined from your nails in addition to the constant lack of pillows on our couch or vacuuming of your fur that gets all over the house. It used to drive me nuts but its all worth it for you. Youre an amazing dog and you truly enrich our lives with your unconditional love. I couldnt love you more!
