The word "waves" in the title was created by clipping a copy of the photo to the word after rasterizing the type. I then added a white stroke to the title. The background consists of two layers. The bottom layer is a blue paper. The top layer is a brown paper with a blend mode of Lighter Color. The photo was turned to black and white, a white layer mask was added and then I used a black gradient to blend the top and bottom of the photo. I then duplicated the photo layer and set the blend mode to Hard Light to better emphasize the waves.
