I Am Not Broken!

The May Art Journaling challenge has been posted and our word prompt for May is [B]FORTITUDE[/B]. On May 2nd, I had an unexpected experience that I just had to put on a page. I documented it with some photos, and used one of them as the background for my layout.

Journaling reads:
I don’t mind the quiet or the solitude. In fact, I rather like it. Yesterday was
difficult though. I walked out the door and the view hit melike a ton of bricks. All the memories came rushing at me and it was overwhelming. I had to dig deep for my continued [B]fortitude[/B] that has gotten me thisfar. The view that Chuck loved somuch almost broke my heart again in it’s glory. He used to say we had “a million-dollar view” and indeed we do. The sky was a magnificent blue and it just took my breath away. May 2, 2025

Oh, Cheryl... I understand your feeling so well when you stepped out and saw that beautiful view. I know Chuck loved it so much. Thanks for sharing some of your journey with us.

Yes, Cheryl, the memories can hit us out of the blue like a ton of bricks. Such a beautiful view, no wonder your precious husband loved it so. My late hubby and I used to travel a lot. On our return, there is a spot, coming down the mountain to our small town, where we can see out over a gorgeous mountain range, and when we got there he would always say, "We're home." Every time I come down that mountain, at that very spot, I hear him saying that, even after all these years. (((Big Hugs)))

You documented your feelings so perfectly. There are days you go through and everything is okay, then one day you are hit with memories that take you down an emotional road. Cherish the memories!

Oh Cheryl, that million dollar view and the tree. What an amazing photo. Knowing how Chuck felt about that view, and seeing what you saw, I can see why it hit you like a ton of bricks. The beauty. The memories. The love. I love the puzzle face you added to. The puzzle doesn't look like it use to, but its still there, despite a missing piece. Thank so for your wonderful comments, Kay. I know you know what I felt. I must confess that it came out of nowhere and really hit me between the eyes. All these months and something can still knock us off our feet. :hug3::heartpumpred:

They're never out of our hearts, are they? Every time I walk out the front door, I hear Chuck saying "we have the million-dollar view". I don't know why this time was so powerful and really brought me to tears. Hugs back.

I do cherish the memories and I'm sure there will be many times that I get this powerful feeling. It was very awesome and my tears weren't from grief, but from the overwhelming love I felt. Thanks so much for your heartfelt comments.

As usual, you totally "get my page" Tracy. That brilliant blue sky is what I saw first, then the foothills and the shadows. The tree on the right side is the one Chuck brought home as a little sappling. I LOVE that tree so much. You have all been SO loving and supportive of me through this journey. :heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred:

No, they are never out of our hearts, Cheryl. I don't think there is an actual understanding of grief, the way it hits all out of the blue when we least expect it. ♥

I sure felt that two days ago, Betty Jo. I guess I've been so busy trying to put my life back together and was just starting to feel like I was doing that, so this was totally unexpected, but what an amazing feeling of love. :heartpumpred: :heartpumpred:
